Leading a Trip to New Zealand

New Zealand specific:
  • Advise everyone to arrive by noon on day 1 if they want to participate in day 1 activities
    • Suggestions for day 1:
      • early-mid afternoon visit to the Auckland Botanic Garden with a guided tour emphasizing NZ native plants;
      • group welcome dinner at a quiet restaurant (not Sky City)
  • Include schedule times in the participant itinerary (especially morning departures)
  • Drivers are required to stay on schedule; there is no time for unscheduled stops.

New Zealand Host/Tour Guide responsibilities:
  • Manage payment vouchers – submit them at locations (the bus driver will give these to you)
  • Coordinate with the hotels – time for breakfast and luggage pick up. Ensure that everyone has checked out before departing.
  • Remind the bus driver on the first day that you will need tags for luggage that will be portered. The tags must be numbered for each participant (name, x of y bags)
  • Announce the schedule daily – when to meet the bus, time for breakfast, etc.
  • Take pictures of the room list and send it to everyone after check-in.
  • Find out who wants to participate in optional activities.
